March 22, 1975 Mayor John C. Lindsey Jr., 55, Caldwell's first chief executive, died Saturday at Baptist Hospital in Memphis after a short illness. Lindsey, a farmer and business manager of Lindsey Brothers Inc., became the city's first mayor when it was incorporated in 1964, and has served all but one two year term since then. He served on the board of the First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas and Cotton Oil Board in Forrest City. He formerly served on the District No. 7 School Board and on the board of the Forrest City Hospital. He was a mason and a deacon of Caldwell Baptist Church. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel in Forrest City with Burial at Forrest Park Cemetery. He leaves his wife, Floyd Estelle "Pug" Lindsey; four sons, living, both of Caldwell, living of Marble Falls and living of Forrest City; a daughter, living of Caldwell; his mother, Mrs. Gene Yount of Forrest City and his stepmother, Mrs. John C.
