John James Michaelis, 78, of Goodwin died Saturday night at Forrest Memorial
Hospital. He had been critically ill and in the hospital since suffering a
stroke Thursday night. He was born May 14, 1894, in Souix Rapids, Iowa, and was
the son of Elizabeth Martin Michaelis and John Michaelis. He had lived for many
years near Gillette, Ark., before moving near Goodwin in 1934. He was a farmer
and a member of the Rich Lutheran Church in Brinkley. Survivors include his
wife, Mrs. Bertie Lee Rodgers Michaelis, who he married in 1917; one son, Living
of Goodwin; one brother, Albert Michaelis of Alexander, Ark.; five grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Michaelis will be held
at 10: 30 a. m. Tuesday at the Faith Lutheran Church in Forrest City with Rev.
Donald F. Jenkins in charge of services. Burial will follow in Forrest Park
Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
