Williams, 74, a resident of Hughes died here at Forrest Memorial Hospital Sunday evening at 6: 15 p. m. He had been ill the past three weeks and in the hospital all that time. Mr. Williams was the son of Laura Jones Williams and Jim Williams. He was born in Lee County September 4, 1898, and had spent most of his life in Lee and St. Francis counties. Mr. Williams had lived the past six years at Hughes. He was a member of the Shell Lake Baptist Church, was a retired blacksmith and a veteral of World War I. Funeral services by Rev. Floyd Cowan Jr., will be held at Stevens Funeral Home at 2 p. m. Thursday, December 28, and burial will follow here in Forrest Park Cemetery. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Susie Hickman Williams, who he married in 1940; one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Davis of Pine Bluff; two step-sons, Robert Bickerstaff of North Little Rock and Carl Bickerstaff of Hughes; one step-daughter, Mrs. Frances Pistel of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, Ray Williams of West Helena, Gene Williams of Helena and Orba Wiliams of Howell, Mich.; six grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
