All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** TROY KENNETH HOLAMON II 4 22 1947 1 9 1993 A memorial service is planned on the West Coast for Troy Kenneth Holamon II, age 45, who died Jan. 9, 1993, at his home at 2883 Old Almaden Road #3 in San Jose, Calif. A former resident of Forrest City, Mr. Holamon had been seriously ill for a month and hospitalized some of that time. Born April 22, 1947, in Pine Bluff, Mr. Holamon was the son of Frances Ann Payne and Troy Kenneth Holamon of that city. He was reared in Forrest City and was a graduate of Forrest City High School. He attended Centenary College in Shreveport, La, later earning the Bachelor of Fine Arts at Memphis State University. He moved to New York City in 1970 and earned his Master of Fine Arts in Theatrical Design at New York University. He was a resident and free lance designer in New York City for several years, involved in designing Off-Broadway and Broadway Shows and teaching. He later moved to California and in 1980 accepted the position of Resident Designer for the San Jose Civic Light Opera. He held this position for 12 years until the time of his death, while also designing numerous productions for Opera San Jose, the San Jose Repertory Theatre, and other West Coast theatres. He also served for eight summers as the Resident Scenic Coordinator for the San Diego Starlight Music Theatre in Balboa Park. While a resident of the East, Mr. Holamon taught theatre design at Penn State University. On the West Coast he was a member of the faculty of Santa Clara University. Mr. Holamon is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Troy K. Holamon of Pine Bluff, by many aunts, uncles and cousins, including Mr. and Mrs. Alex Leftwich of Forrest City. Plans have been made for a Memorial Service honoring Mr. Holamon on Monday, Jan 18 at 3 pm at the San Jose Civic Light Opera. Cremation is planned with the ashes to be scattered over the plot designated by SJCLO for the Holamon Library.
