All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** BENJAMIN W HOWTON 8 17 1897-2 10 1993 Mr. Benjamin W Howton of Palestine died today, Feb. 10, 1993, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City. He was 95. Mr. Howton was born Aug. 17, 1897 in Glenn Allen MO, to Marcus Howton and Julie Riley Howton. He had lived in St Francis County all of his life, where he was a farmer and a member of the Twin Assembly Church in Palestine. He was also a past member of the St Francis County Quorum Court. Mr. Howton was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Byrd Howton in 1983. He leaves a son, Ernest Howton of Palestine; two daughters, Beverly Howton Pruitt of Louisville KY and Mary Ellen Gehring of Forrest City; a brother, Henry Howton of Palestine; and 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb 12 at 2 pm at Salem Methodist Church with Sister Christine Jumper officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
