Lawson (Ann Lancaster) Hughes of Forrest City died Thursday, April 29, 1993 at Baptist Memorial Hospital/Central in Memphis. She was 61. Mrs. Hughes, the former Ann Lancaster, was a lifelong resident of Forrest City. Born Jan 18, 1932, she was the daughter of Murray Lancaster and Lillian Ferguson Lancaster. She had lived in Forrest City all of her life where she was a housewife, a member of the PEO, and a former member of the Musical Coterie. She was also a member of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she had been a member of the chancel choir for many years. She leaves her husband, J Lawson Hughes of Forrest City, whom she married in 1949; two sons, Jay and Jim Hughes, both of Forrest City; a daughter, Ms. Sallie Hughes of Germantown, TN; a brother, the Rev Murray Lancaster Jr of Memphis; an aunt, Dorothy Vescovo of Memphis; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1 at 10 am in Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev Ron Stone officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Forrest City Library or to the Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church.
