WILLIS WITHERSPOON JOHNSON
(age 79 d.?, 1993)

Funeral services were held today in Little Rock for Willis Witherspoon Johnson, the father
of Mrs. John Dudley Bridgforth of Forrest City. Mr. Johnson, aged 79, died Saturday at his
home in Little Rock. He was a retired businessman. He attended Princeton University and
graduated from the University of Virginia. He was a retired Lt Commander in the United
States Navy and was on active duty during World War II. A former chairman of the Board of
Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Mr. Johnson was a Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow of the
Little Rock Rotary. He was the Past National Chairman of the National Food Brokers
Association, and was an Elder in Second Presbyterian Church of Little Rock. Mr Johnson is
survived by his wife, Eugenia Peek Johnson of the home; two daughters, Mrs. William B
(Jennie) Sigler of Little Rock and Mrs. (Beth) Bridgforth of Forrest City; two
grandchildren, Beth Sigler of Little Rock and David Johnson Bridgforth of Forrest City and
a sister, Mrs. William P Powell of Little Rock. A private burial service was held in
Little Rock today, and a Memorial Service followed at 2pm at the Second Presbyterian
Church. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital or
the Second Presbyterian Church.
