All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** CARL MALCOLM SMITH 11 8 1916-12 26 1992 Carl Malcolm Smith of Parkin died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1992, at home. He was 76. Mr. Smith was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Broken Arrow, Okla, but lived most of his adult life in Cross County. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Worlk War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Earle, the Forrest City VFW Post 2869 and the Forrest City American Legion Post #4. He was a farmer and had retired in 1978 as an assembly line worker at Baker-York in West Memphis. He leaves his wife Edna Leona Craven Smith of the home; two sons, Michael D Smith of Newman, Ill. and Jeffrey Smith of Palestine; two daughters, Betty Miller of Forrest City and Sue Tucker of Colt; four brothers, Walker Smith of Newport News, Va., Buddy Smith of Jacksonville, Fla, Jerry Smith of West Memphis and Donald Smith of Marion; four sisters, Olivine Diana of Spokane, Wash, Flossie Turnep of Pocahontas, Josephine Campbell of Earle and Earline Steele of West Memphis; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan 1, at 1 pm at Kernodle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Green Officiating. Burial will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery in Wynne under the direction of Kernodie Funeral Home of Wynne. Visitation will be held from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home. For those wishing to send memorials, the family requests that donations be made to Mrs. Smith.
