All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** US ARMY AIR CORPS WWII CHOWNING WARREN LEMUEL 11 26 1919-12 26 1999 COGBILL Warren Lemuel Chowning, age 80, of Alexandria, Virginia, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria. He was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Wynne and was the son of Cleve Lee Chowning and Frances Romains Edwards Chowning. He graduated from Wynne High School and was a member of the U. S. Air Force and a veteran of WWII. He was a personnel specialist for the U. S. Army at Fort Polk, Louisiana; was employed by the U. S. Corps of Engineers in Buffalo, New York and was personnel specialist for the U. S. Marine Corps in Quantico, Va. at his retirement. He was of the Christian Church faith. He is survived by his wife, Mamie Bass Chowning of Alexandria, Va.; one brother, R. W. "Bob" Chowning of Magnolia, Ark.; and two sisters, Margaret Chowning Ellis of Wynne and Mary Frances Chowning Pitts of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Norman Chowning. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at 2 p. m. at Cogbill Cemetery with Rev. Wes George officiating. Kernodle Funeral Home of Wynne is in charge of the arrangements.
