FORREST CITY

Inez Kirkland, age 70, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at
Methodist Hospital in Memphis. She was born July 25, 1929, and was the daughter
of Robert and Ada Haggans of Colt. She was a lifelong resident of St. Francis
County and Forrest City. She was a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist
Church, and was a retired traffic officer with the Forrest City Police
Department, having served for 25 years. She is survived by three daughters,
Gloria Madden, Barbara Kirkland and Carolyn K. Sattiewhite, all of Forrest City;
two brothers, O. B. Haggans of St. Louis, Mo. and Murphy Gregory of Forrest
City; five sisters, Lucille Seldon of Youngstown, Ohio, Josephine Drakes of
Chicago, Ill., Cloraine Jones of St. Louis, Mo., Carmilla Haggans of Hannibal,
Mo., and Evelyn Madden of Chicago; nine grandchildren and 14 great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Kirkland in
1984. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at 1 p.m. at Salem
Missionary Baptist Church in Forrest City with Rev. Felix Duckworth officiating.
Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Morgan
Funeral Home.
