Eliza Jane Pendelton, age 77, of Madison, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at
Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 10, 1922, in Round Pond to Tom and
Nancy Thompson. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Robert
Pendelton Sr.; two sons, Robert Pendelton Jr. of Madison and Barry Pendelton of
Forrest City; six daughters, Varry Surratt and Ruby Johnson, both of Pine Bluff,
Martha McNeary of Forrest City, Mae Bell Washington of St. Louis, Mo., Stella
Carr of Madison, Lessie Driver of San Diego, Ca.; two brothers, Lucuish Thompson
of St. Louis, Mo., William Thompson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Pauline
Starks of Oakfield, Tenn.; 34 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10: 30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Clay
Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at
Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Marland Brown officiating. Burial will follow at
Whitmore Cemetery with Clay Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
