Merl Christine Thornton Rodgers, 82, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Dec. 16,
1999, at Baptist Central Hospital, in Memphis. Mrs. Rodgers was born Jan. 19,
1917, in Pine Valley, Miss. Mrs. Rodgers lived in Memphis before moving to
Forrest City. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs.
Rodgers was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Rodgers in 1997 and her
daughter, Elizabeth Rodgers Dobell. She is survived by two sons, Charles Rodgers
Jr. of Lawerenceburg, Tenn., and Donald Rodgers of Hampton, Va.; five
grandchildren and one great-grandson. Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 19,
1999, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Steven's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be
Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at 10: 30 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial
will follow at 1 p.m. at Memory Hill Gardens in Memphis.
