PARADISE GARDEN

James Edward Whitaker, 87, died Sunday, January 17, at Helena Regional Medical
Center. He is survived by five sons, Charles Whitaker, James W. Whitaker,
Alexander Whitaker and Anthony "Chomp" Holloway, all of Marianna and Lawrence E.
Whitaker of Memphis; four daughters, Sarah Whitaker of Oakland, CA., Velma
Whitaker Randolph of Little Rock, Martha Whitaker and Willie Mae Whitaker, both
of Marianna; 44 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Sarah K. Carter, Whitaker and his son, Paul Whitaker. Funeral
services were held Saturday, January 23, at 1 p.m. at New Bethel Church in
Marianna with Rev. Cecil Coleman officiating. Burial followed at Paradise Garden
Cemetery in Edmondson. Arrangements were handled by Jackson and Highley Funeral
Home.
