Mr. Beaver was born on Aug. 25, 1913, in Theo, and lived all of his life in Chidester. He was retired from Chidester Saw Mill. He is preceded in death by his wife, Emily Louise Cook Beaver; his parents, Connie Cyrus Beaver and Eva Merritt Beaver; and a brother, Ray Beaver. Mr. Beaver is survived by two sons, Donald R. Beaver and wife, Doris, of Camden, and Larry Beaver and wife, Sandra, of Fordyce; two daughters, Nancy C. Lewis of Andrews, Texas, and Linda K. Womack and husband, Max, of Camden; three brothers, William Franklin Beaver, Woodrow H. Beaver and Perry F. Beaver, all of Camden; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. HOGUE By: - El Dorado News Times - Published: 06/01/2008 Hogue Myrtle Ann Nickels Hogue. Early Sunday morning on May 25, 2008, the Lord took our mother home. She is now with Jesus and her late husband of 41 years, the late Jeppie Neal Hogue, who preceded her in death in May 1986. The Lord allowed our mother to live 87 years. This was a happy and prosperous life. She will be missed by her children, brother and friends. Myrtle Ann Nickels Hogue was born on Jan. 12, 1921, on the family farm on the South Fork River near Mammoth Springs in Fulton County. She was the fourth child born to Walter Nickels and Isophine Kirby Hill Nickels. The Nickels and Hills were one of the first families to settle in Fulton County, Arkansas. Her late husband, Jeppie, was from Mount Holly, and Myrtle and Jeppie were married in Benton on Jan. 18, 1941. From this marriage she had two sons, Jerry Neal Hogue and Douglas Dean Hogue. In 1941 Jeppie enlisted in the United States Navy until the duration of the World War II. Myrtle and her late husband moved to San Diego, Calif., in 1941; living in San Diego until 1979. Mr. Hogue was a dietician, executive chief, and worked as a ship builder at National Steel and Myrtle worked for many years in the restaurant business. In 1979 Myrtle and Jeppie retired and moved back to Union County and built a home on the old Brasier homestead land in Marysville. After the passing of Jeppie, Myrtle worked for many years as a personal caregiver, helping the elderly and sick. She was loved by many people from the Marysville Community. She was a former member of the Marysville Methodist Church. During MyrtleÕs lifetime the Lord called home as her sisters and three brothers; mother and father, Walter and Isophine Nickels, Otis Jack Nickels, Hubert James Nickels, Everett Woodrow Nickels, Pansy Marie Nickels Johnson and Hazel Pearl Nickels Sullivant. Survivors include two sons, Jerry N. Hogue and his wife, Kimberly, of Marysville Community, Douglas D. Hogue and wife, Pamela, of San Diego. Three grandchildren, Joseph Jeppie Neal Holland Middleton Hogue, Timothy Williams Butler Hogue of Maryville, Shannon Danielle Hogue Eriksson and her husband, Niclas, of San Diego, and one great-granddaughter, Hailey Marie Eriksson of San Diego; a step-grandson, Michael Dewitt Canaday of Batesville; a brother, Bartus Paul Nickels of Hermitage, Missouri; many nieces and nephews. Jerry and Kimberly would like to thank Life Touch Hospice, Dr. Matt Callaway; our special nurse who comforted mom during her brief illness, Bernice Meade, and Mrs. Annette who provided that loving touch of care and comfort. We would also like to thank our pastor, Brother Gary Riley and all the members of Lisbon United Methodist Church for their love and prayers during this difficult time and all our friends and neighbors who gave us support and love during this time of grief. He was born on Aug. 12, 1927, to Robert McElroy and Jennie Ivey McElroy. Mac served in the U.S. Army during World War II and in the Navy aboard the USS Duncan in the Korean War. He was a longtime business owner and resident of El Dorado and a past recipient of the El Dorado Civitan ClubÕs ÒCitizen of the YearÓ award. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frank McElroy; and a sister, Stella DeLara. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Louise Speer McElroy; two sons, Randy McElroy and wife, Terri, of Sachse, Texas, and Ricky McElroy and wife, Karan, of North Richland Hills, Texas; and one granddaughter, Lindsey McElroy of Sachse. Born March 13, 1925, in Rector, he was the son of John and Morea Adney Wallace. Mr. Wallace was a member of Hickory Grove Chapel. He also enjoyed watching baseball and wood carving. Mr. Wallace had a long career in trucking, driving for Mayflower and Lyons moving companies, then working as an owner/operator, and ending as owner of A and R Trucking. Born March 24, 1927, in Shidler, Okla., she was the daughter of James Orrey Jones and Callie Alma Donia Reeves Jones. A retired bookkeeper for VickerÕs Machine Works, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Smackover, a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Pink Lady volunteer, and an avid baseball fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves. Fannie missed going to church in her latter years, due to her health. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, M.T. For 29 years he worked for the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Oakland, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father and brothers, Raymond and Jerry. He was born in Houston, to parents Felix and Laura Elliott. He worked for Lion Oil in El Dorado, where he met his wife , Freida Allison. They married after his return from service in the Navy during World War II. They moved to Luling, La., when he was transferred to work at the Lion Oil Barton Plant. This plant became the Monsanto Luling Plant where he eventually became plant manager. They then moved to the St. Louis area where he continued his career with Monsanto. Looking to become more involved in plant management, they moved to Baytown, Texas, where he was hired as the plant manager of MoBay Chemical (later to become Bayer). He and his wife, Freida, made Baytown their home for 32 years prior to moving to Baton Rouge, La., to live close to one of their children. After Freida passed away in 2003, Fred moved back to Baytown, where he lived until just recently when he moved to Farmerville where he again would be close to family and needed care. He was a strong, extraordinary person who loved his wife and family. Survivors include his sons, Frederic and his wife, Susan, Michael and his wife, Pam, and John and his wife, Kelly; grandchildren, Laura, Sarah, Brian, Krysten and Michael; and brother, Robert. He will be greatly missed, fondly remembered and forever loved by those of us fortunate enough to have known him. PROTHRO Published: 06/20/2008 Prothro Winifred Virginia Prothro passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008. She was born on April 23, 1920, in Malvern, to John and Winifred Wharton. She married Maxwell (Max) Prothro of El Dorado on Christmas Eve in 1939, and together they enjoyed 68 years of happy marriage, prior to his passing in May 2008, only 22 days before Winifred. The couple had two children, Sid Prothro and Joel Prothro. She was ever a devoted mother and wife, a loving and gentle soul and she loved to sew and work in her rose garden. She was the second born of seven children to the marriage of William Wright and Mattie Lee Moore Brillhart. Gertrude was reared and educated in Strong and El Dorado, later graduating from El Dorado Junior College in 1931. A coin toss in front of ElliottÕs Jewelers in El Dorado won William Fae ÒPatÓ Patterson the privilege of asking a young redhead out for a date. This would lead to the love affair that would last their lifetimes. From that coin toss on, these two would partner in marriage, family, business, and community affairs. Pat and Gertrude married June 9, 1934, in El Dorado, and remained devoted for over 57 years until his death in 1991. Hotel management moved Gertrude and Pat from South Arkansas to East Texas where they partnered in the oil and gas industry and founded the Patterson Insurance Agency. Gertrude served her community through her musical talents playing for the Rotary, Lions Club and Central Baptist Church. As community leaders and philanthropists, they gave the Hawthorn Clabaugh Patterson Home for use by the city of Carthage, supported multiple organizations, and helped countless individuals personally and in businesses.
