Orange County           ) This Indenture made this 19th day
of August 1848 Between the heirs of John Redding, Decd, To Wit
Nancy Reding (widow, Robert Reding, Mary Reding, John Reding, Steph
en Reding, David Reding & John Ray & Elizabeth his wife,
Robert Reding, John Reding John Ray & wife are of the County of
Orange & State of North Carolina, Mary Reding & David Reding &
Nancy Reding is of Tennessee & Stephen Reding of Arkansas of the
first part & John Smith of the other part, witnesseth that the said
above written names hath in & for the Sum of One hundred & twenty
five Dollars paid by the said John Smith to us in hand, the recpt
whereof we do hereby acknowledge, Hath bargained & Sold, aliened
infeoffed, released & confirmed & by these presents doth grant
unto the said John Smith his heirs & assigns forever a tract
or parcel of Land lying & being in the County of Orange & State of N Carolina
Situate as follows, On the Waters of Lyttle River Adjoining the Lands of Richard
Breeze, Samuel McBroom & others Bounded as follows Begining at a Post
Oak Breezes Corner, then South Thirty five chains to pointers, then West
Sixty One chains to pointers, then North thirty two chains & Seventy five
links to pointers, then East with Breezes line fifty Nine chains & fifty
links to the begining Containing by Estimation 205 1/2 acres be the
same more of less To have & to hold the above tract or parcel of Land
with all the ways, waters, mines, minerals & improvements at
tached thereto free of the Claims of any of us or Executors or Administrators
assigns free from the Claims of all persons whatsoever
   In Testimony whereof we have set our Seals & Signed our Names this day
& year above written in presence

tioned, and the said Elizabeth being then ex[amined]
by me privetly & apart from her said husband
& without any compulsion, threats, or undue influence [on]
the part of her said husband & that she doth now [?]
assent thereto Let it be registered as to them this 29th [day of]
