The Funeral is Saturday, 3:00 p.m. at the Colony Church of Christ, East of Morganton. Interment will be in the Colony Cemetery. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway. Granny Helen Pearl REDFERN, 77 In the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 1997, the city of Maricopa lost another resident Granny, 77. This time Helen Granny Redfern passed away to her second battle with cancer. Granny was born May 9, 1920 in Copeland, Arkansas, Van Buren County, to William Jasper and Lilly Avus Goad. Granny passed away in the West Side District Hospital at 2 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 1997. Granny first came to California in 1947. She was preceeded in death by her parents William Jasper Goad and Lilly Avus Scarberry Goad, her two brothers William Noah and Leo Goad, her husband Elmer Redfern, her son William Omar Redfern (Billy), her daughter Brenda Fay Redfern and numerous other children. Granny is survived by her sister, Louise Jones of Rosemond, Ca., her brother Cecil Goad of Lake Isabella, Ca.; her three sons, Odos E. Redfern of Bodfish, Ca.; Elmer (Joey) Redfern of Santa Barbara Ca.; and Larry (Bucky) Redfern of Maricopa, Ca.; her three daughters, Ellen Dyan Brown of Maricopa, Linda Marie Glenn of Bakersfield, Ca., and Glenda Mae Sills of Kansas City, Missouri; over 50 grand and great grandchildren, and over 90 nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Granny was known best for being a haven to teenagers through the 60's and 70's. If you needed help from someone or just needed to talk, her lights and doors were usually on and open or if not she would wake up. She lived a rough life but made the best of it. Funeral services will be held in the erickson and Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Friday at 11 A.m. and burial will follow in the West Side District Cemetery. Rev. bob birch will officiate at the services.
