Hon. Wilson M. Davis, who is at present ably representing Washington 
County, Ark., in the State Legislature, was born in Missouri in 1852, 
and made his native State his home until six years of age, at which 
time he was taken by his parents, Green and Tirzah (Banks) Davis, to 
the "Lone Star State." Here he resided until fourteen or fifteen years 
of age, when, being of an independent and enterprising disposition, he 
determined to make his own way in the world, and, accordingly, came to 
Washington County, Ark., and engaged in farming, and, after receiving 
sufficient education in the common schools, engaged in teaching 
school. He has resided in Springdale for about seventeen years, and is 
well known throughout the county as a man of integrity and ability. In 
1885 he was elected. on the Democratic ticket. to the State 
Legislature, and is now filling the duties of that position to the 
entire satisfaction of his constituents, having introduced several 
important bills, among which was the railroad bill for prohibiting 
discrimination in freight rates and one for reducing car fare to 3 
cents per mile. Both bills were passed. In 1875 he was united in 
marriage to Miss Ardilla Barr. who was born in 1858, and their union 
has resulted in the birth of four children. The family worship in the 
Methodist Episcopal Church South.
