WHITE ROCK CEMETERY Washington County, Arkansas Submitted by Shannon Seyler-archangel505@yahoo.com (doesn't work) The White Rock Cemetery is a rural graveyard located in Washington County, AR. It can be found outside the town of Lincoln, Arkansas. Drive to Lincoln on Highway 62 East. Once in Lincoln, locate Sugar Hill Road (Washington County Road #16). On this road, you will eventually pass the Sugar Hill Church and the Sugar Hill Cemetery. The road will intersect with Highway 59 South. To find the White Rock Cemetery, look for a small sign on the right side of the road. It's quite small and easy to miss, but this sign is the only indicator as to the location of the cemetery. The cemetery is nearly 2 miles from the intersection of Sugar Hill Road and Highway 59 South. A dirt road will turn to the right off Highway 59 to the cemetery. After a rather brief ride down this dirt road, the cemetery will be plainly visible. It has a metal gate around it. There are many graves marked with plain field stones; there are also quite a few illegible tombstones here. However, the cemetery appears reasonably well-cared for and is still in use today. NOTE: There is another grave in this vicinity that is not located in the White Rock Cemetery. We were told about it by locals. It's a lone grave belonging to a man by the last name of Morrow. He was murdered by Bushwhackers during the Civil War era conflicts between the Jayhawkers and the Bushwhackers. The murdered man was left lying in a field and was eventually buried by two women. This grave can be found on a hill near Washington County Road #12, which can be accessed by foot. A local man noted that if Morrow's people ever claimed him, he could possibly be moved into the cemetery.
