Caption under the pictures:

"The children pictured above were students of the Harmon school, just west of 
Springdale in 1941-1942. The pictures were a private keepsake of the teacher, 
Irene Stewart, and were provided to The Morning News by her son Kenneth Stewart 
of Springdale, who was a student. The Harmon school, like many one- and two-room 
schools in the area, consisted of grades 1-4, with a different grade meeting on 
each side of the building and separated by movable partitions. The Harmon school 
district was consolidated into te Springdale school district. The Harmon school 
building is still standing."
