Arrangements are pending at Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville. ---------------------- Morning News of Northwest Arkansas February 6, 1998 FAYETTEVILLE – Joseph E. (Gene) Burson, 74, of Fayetteville died Feb. 3, 1998, at Fayetteville. He was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Habberton to W.H. (Bill) and Lucy Ellen Stewart Burson. He was owner of Red Bird Cafe, where he worked for 30 years until retiring. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a member of the Arkansas National Guard and Haberton Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Jean Allen of Eureka Springs, Deborah Jayne Burson of Fayetteville and Claudia Sue Burson of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fayetteville National Cemetery with Jim Tate officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
