He was born Oct. 17, 1921, in West Fork to Henry L. and Rhoda L. Leonard Burris. He was a farmer, a carpenter and a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He raised cattle and enjoyed gardening. He was also a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Fayetteville and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a life resident of Northwest Arkansas. Survivors include his wife, Blanche Elaine McGee Burris of the home, to whom he was married 56 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Carl Burris and Sara of Henderson, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Zelpha Johnson and Don of Springdale, Linda Cranford and Don of Greenland and Rita Boydstun and Buy of West Fork; two sisters, Vorelda Byrum of Winslow and Hazel Pennington of Siloam Springs; one brother, Howard Burris of West Fork; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. David McClelland officiating. Burial will be in Mineral Springs Cemetery near West Fork. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. The family requests memorials be made to Southside Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
