Godard, 82, of Jay, Okla., died Feb. 5, 1998, at Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami, Okla. She was born June 2, 1915, in Wanette, Okla., to William Bradford and Delia Jane Henry Merrill. She was a teacher and taught in northeast Oklahoma for more than 30 years in the public school system. She was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the National Education Association and former member of the First Christian Church in Rogers. She moved to the area in 1985 from Spavinaw, Okla., and relocated to Jay from Gravette in 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clover Godard; one grandson; several brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Baskins of Pine Bluff and Jean Fontaine of Rock Island, Okla.; two brothers, William Merrill of Norwalk, Calif., and the Rev. Floyd M. Merrill of Oklahoma; three sisters, Ruth Hamilton of Salem, Ore., Nora Robbins of Wasilla, Alaska, and Margaret Martin of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; five grandchildren; six great- grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Jay with pastors Bill Richardson and Joe Reeves officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers with Marvin Stephens officiating. Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.
