FAYETTEVILLE – 

Mildred May Higgins, 84, of the Round Mountain community
died Jan. 30, 1998, at her home. She was born Jan. 3, 1914, in Cookstown,
N.J., to Henry S. Sr. and Cora Garman Makibbin. She was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fayetteville, and was a
published poet. She was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Edwin Higgins of the home; three
sons, Dave Higgins of Russellville, Bart Higgins of Chula Vista, Calif.,
and Jim Higgins of Fayetteville; three daughters, Sherry Downing of Sewell,
N.J., Trish Robertson of Newman, Ga., and Linda Barnes of Prairie Grove;
one brother, Henry S. Makibbin Jr. of Round Mountain Community; 21
grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Beard’s Funeral Chapel and Crematory
of Fayetteville with Billy Ammons officiating. Burial will be at Round
Mountain Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
