All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** PEA RIDGE - Eugene (Gene) Hollaway, 74, of Pea Ridge died Dec. 2, 1997, at his home. He was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Lowell to John A. and Bessie Bea Burch Hollaway. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 390th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion, during which time he received the European-African, Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Local 300 AFL-CIO of Los Angeles and attended Garfield First Baptist Church. He worked in construction while living in Homeland, Calif., before moving to Pea Ridge in 1991. He was preceded in death by one sister; one brother. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Dorsett and Jim of Garfield and Glynda Caldwell and Aaron of Washburn, Mo.; one sister, Leona Wood of Ontario, Calif.; one brother, James Hollaway of Mariposa, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge with the Rev. Ronnie Booth and the Rev. Bennie Thompson officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery at Fayetteville, with military honors provided by Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. -----------------------
