In Fayetteville, on the 11th inst., Mrs. Elvira [Merideth] Jack, wife of Wm. A. Jack. The subject of this notice came from [Greene County] Tennessee with her husband to this county about 16 years ago. She had been suffering for two years with disease of the lungs, which baffled the skill of all the physicians. She died as she had lived, a christian, having early in life embraced religion and joined the Baptist Church. Her faith in Jesus grew stronger as her dying hour grew nearer, and in her last moments expressed her entire willingness to meet her God. All was done that a kind husband, dutiful children and sympathising neighbors could do to render her comfortable in her afflictions until death put an end to her sufferings. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Mayes, Pastor of the Baptist Church. Many friends accompanied her remains to Son's Chapel, six miles east of town, where her former neighbors and friends of that place joined them, and assisted in laying her to rest beside her two children who had preceded her to that beautiful cemetery. She has left a husband, six children, and a large circle of friends to mourn the loss of the good wife, mother and neighbor. -------------------------
