All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Morning News of Northwest Arkansas dated Thur Oct 3, 2002 Martin J Lemke Springdale-- Martin Julius Lemke, 91, of Springdale died Oct 1, 2002, at his home. He was born July 9, 1911, in Gillett, Wis, to Daniel and Amelia Krueger Lemke. He moved to Springdale in 1935 from Wisconsin. He was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church. He operated an organic farm for a number of years and was a carpenter for 60 years, spending some of that time working at Northwest Medical Center. He was active in the community and was known for his Bible studies. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Louise Michael Lemke, on June 8, 2001. Survivors include four sons, Lawrence Lemke of Jay, Okla, Alfred Lemke and Carl Lemke, both of Siloam Springs, and Paul Lemke of Gentry; two daughters, Vera Hylton of Springdale and Carolyn Allen of Losa Angeles, Calif; one sister, Helen Pearson of Milwaukee, Wis; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 am Saturday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with the Rev Dustin Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation begins at 2 pm Friday. The family will be present from 6 to 7 pm. Pallbearers will be Michael Lemke, Marc Lemke, Greg Lemke, Kyle Lemke, Jonathan Lemke, Jimmy Hylton, John Meeker and Jeff Hunter. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Allen, David Hylton, the Rev Dustin Lemke and Cliff Allen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Circle of Life Hospice, 610 E Emma Ave, Springdale, 72764.
