All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Morning News of Northwest Arkansas February 1, 1998 SPRINGDALE – Howard William Long, 80, of Springdale died Jan. 30, 1998, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Drummond, Okla., to Clarence William and Claudia Secor Long. He moved to Springdale 40 years ago from Drummond. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Guthrie, Okla., and a 32nd-degree Mason. He was a past member of the Rodeo of the Ozarks Board of directors and Springdale Noon Lions Club. He owned and operated Ozark Downs Race Track, farmed in Oklahoma for many years and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Springdale. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Wells Long of the home, to whom he was married Sept. 10, 1936; one son and daughter-in-law, Everett William (Bill) Long and Linda of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Marilyn Macon of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three sisters, Velma Roberts, Clara Bel Spohrer and Donna Henneke, all of Enid, Okla.; two grandchildren, Shane and Shad Macon, both of Springdale; two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Sisco Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Danny Rogers officiating. Graveside service and burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Del Norte Cemetery in Drummond. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. ------------------------------------------
