A. Medearis, died at this home of her daughter Mrs. G.W. Gibson, in the city Friday morning, April 24th. Mrs. Medearis was the daughter of Rev. Dr. John Hinds, a minister of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was born Feb. 28th 1842 in Guilford Co. N.C. They moved to Newtonia, MO, & in 1861 the family moved to Viney Grove. In 1867, at the age of 25 years she was married to R. A. Medearis. They settled on a farm about 4 miles east of Westville & continued to live there moving to Westville in 1901. 8 children were born to this union, one dying in infancy. The surviving are" Mrs. G. W. Gibson of Westville, Dr. R. S. Medearis of Little Rock, J.F. Medearis of Fresno, CA, Mrs. Lillian Thibodeaux of Breaubridge LA, A. J. Medearis of Loyalton, CA, Mrs. Blanche McGuire of Fresno, CA & Dr. P.H. Medearis of Tahlequah, one brother of the deceased survives, Mr. W.G.D. Hinds of Oklahoma City. Her husband, R. A. Medearis, well known to most of the people of this community died 11 years ago the 3rd day of this month, April. Mrs. Medearis made the good confession & joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in her girlhood & since coming to Westville has been an honored member of the Presbyterian Church of this place. She set a splended example of quiet, modest & faithful Christian living, always doing a generous share in any way she was able, in all things that were helpful to her neighbors or uplifting her community. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Presbyterian Church this city by the Rev. P.C. Irwin. Interment followed at Union Hill Cemetery, near Cincinnati
