All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Morning News of Northwest Arkansas February 2, 1998 ROGERS – Edwin (Eddie) Mackey, 83, of Rogers and formerly of Kansas City, Mo., died Jan. 30, 1998, in a local health-care facility. He was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Bentonville to Frank Odell and Katherine Ford Mackey. He was president of the 1933 graduating class of Rogers Academy. He served in the Arkansas National Guard, 142nd Field Artillery, "B" Battery, serving under J. Wesley Sampier. He was also the founding member of the Board of Directors for the War Eagle Arts and Crafts Fair, and was a past member of the Rogers zoning commission. He was a Mason and served as a volunteer accountant for the Theatre for Young America in Kansas City. He worked as a real estate broker and agent throughout northern Arkansas and southern Missouri, and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Ruth Ivie Mackey, and a sister. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Ford Mackey and Sherry of Fayetteville, Gene Noah Mackey and Sheryl of Overland Park, Kan., and David Ellis Mackey and Cammie of Little Rock; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel in Rogers with the Rev. Virgil Bell officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Huntsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Research Foundation, or to the donor's charity of choice.
