BELLA VISTA – 

Derwood Jackson (Jack) Miller, 77, of Bella Vista died Jan.
29, 1998, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. He was born July 14,
1920, in Otis, La., to Arthur L. and Edna Nichols Miller. He received a
bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics from Louisiana State
University. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with Gen.
George Patton’s 2nd Armored Division in North Africa and Sicily, then at
the Armored Force School at Fort Knox, Ky. He joined Procter & Gamble Co.
in 1946 in the foods division at Kansas City and retired after 33 years. He
then joined the International Executive Service Corps, a non-profit
organization that served businesses in developing countries. He served as
country director in Turkey four years and as director of operations in Asia
for two years. He retired and moved to Bella Vista in 1987 from Shawnee
Mission, Kan. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church, Lions
Club and American Legion and was a Stephen Ministry leader. He was preceded
in death by one brother.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rie Miller of the home; two sons,
David Miller of Austin, Texas, and Donald Miller of Hazelwood, Mo.; two
daughters, Anne Cardea of Kansas City, Mo., and Jennifer Miller Ingham of
San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Marshall Miller of Bella Vista; three
grandchildren; one step-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Bella Vista Community
Church with the Rev. Dick Lindman officiating. Inurnment will be in Bella
Vista Cemetery. Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of
Bentonville.
Memorials may be made to the Bella Vista library or Commuinity Church.
