All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Morning News of Northwest Arkansas February 1, 1998 FAYETTEVILLE – Herman Powers, 78, of Fayetteville died Feb. 6, 1998, in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 27, 1920, in Muskogee, Okla., to Rolla G. and Myrtle Anderson Powers. He was a retired civil engineer for M.W. Kellog, moving to this area in 1983 from Houston, Texas. He was a World War II naval officer, and a member of the First Christian Church in Springdale. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, and a member of the Houston Scottich Rite. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Mabel Powers, in 1991. Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen A. Manicke of Evansville, Ind., Patricia L. Biggers of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, and Barbara K. Piercy of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Doris Jean Bray of Lockport, N.Y.; eight grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Keith Marinus officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Daniel C. Biggers, Mark W. Biggers, Matthew P. Biggers, Brian D. Manicke, Nicholas E. Manicke and Joseph P. Piercy. Honorary pallbearers are George Anderson, Leo Anderson and Everett Kyle.
