FAYETTEVILLE – 

Purl Jeptha Thornton, 90, of Fayetteville died Feb. 6, 1998,
at his home. He was born Nov. 12, 1907, in Doniphan County, Kan., to Jeptha
and Lucy Kern Thornton. He was a retired federal meat inspector, and he
enjoyed collecting antiques and reading history. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Zelma Bird Thornton, in 1991; eight brothers; three sisters;
three half brothers; one half sister.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley June Gibson of Fayetteville; one
brother, Marion Thornton of Troy, Kan.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Fairview Memorial Gardens
with Maurice Roberts officiating. Arrangements are by Moore's Chapel of
Fayetteville.
