Married Elizabeth Brashear on April 20, 1807 in Roane County, Tennessee. 3. Henry Stracener, born 1791 in South Carolina. Married Susannah Knight in 1812. MICHEAL STRACENER Born: 1786 in Roane County, Tennessee. Married: April 20, 1807 to Elizabeth Brasher in Roane County, Tennessee. Children:(In order) 1. Ester (or Esther or Easter) Stracener, born 1808 in Tennessee and remained unmarried until her death. ***2. William Stracener, born 1810 in Tennessee. He married Sarah Ann Kelly in Saint Clair County on April 20, 1836. He died in Arkansas. 3. Jonathan Stracener, born 1813 place of birth unclear. He married Minerva Jane Seals January 20, 1833 in Saint Clair County, Alabama. Time and place of death unknown. 4. Margret Stracener, born 1815 in Alabama. She married Fendol Robertson on June 26, 1834. She is the only one not mentioned in her father's will so I'm not sure what happened to her. 5. Jefferson Stracener, born April 12, 1817 in Alabama. He married Phebe F. Fletcher on September 26, 1837. He died February 18, 1901 and is buried in Davis Cemetary in Howard County, Arkansas. 6. Hiram M. Stracener, born 1820 in Saint Clair County, Alabama. He married Lelia Duke on February 18, 1841. Time and place of his death unknown. 7. Elizabeth Ann Stracener was born in1824. She married Wilburn R. Seals on November 7, 1842. She was given only $50.00 in her father's will. 8. Louis (or Lewis) Stracener was born May 10, 1825. He married Nancy Caroline Fletcher (23, from Georgia) when he was 20 on July 23, 1845. He died on August 5, 1908 in New Hope, Arkansas, Pike County, and is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetary, address: Highway 70 West, New Hope, Arkansas. Nancy was born August 28, 1827 and died on January 21, 1896 in New Hope and is buried in the same cemetary. ***I have a list of their children, along with Lewis II descendants and Lewis II's daughter, Bamey Savannah Stracener's descendants. 9. Mary L. Stracener, born 1833. She married Auther A. Duke on Jan. 2, 1855. Died: January 20, 1855 (or 1856 or after) in Royal Township, White County, Arkansas. He is also buried there. ## We have a will from him that states the following: Know all men by these presents that I, Micheal Stracener of Royal Township in the County of White and State of Arkansas, "Gentlemen", being in good health and sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testiment, hereby _____ all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. I hereby constitute and appoint my sons, William Stracener and Jefferson Stracener, to be sole executioners of this my last will, directing my said Executors to pay all my just debts and funeral expenses, and the legacies hereinafter given out of my estate. 2nd To sell all of any property both real and personal at my death and make the distribution as hereinafter directed. After the payment of my said debts and funeral expenses, I give to each of my children as follows. To William Stracener $300.00. To Jefferson Stracener $300.00. To Hiram Stracener, $300.00. To Louis $300.00. To Jonathon Stracener $300.00. To Easter? (Ester) Stracener $100.00. To Elizabeth Seals $50.00. To Mary Stracener $100.00 to be paid to each of them as soon after my death __ but within one year as conveniently may be done and after the payment of the legacies aforesaid. I want the balance to be divided equally among my children aforenamed except Elizabeth Seals who is to have but the $50.00 above mentioned. It is witnessed by Gaza Brasher who we believe was Elizabeth's brother: MARRIAGE BOND We Michael Straisner & Gaza Brasher are bound unto the State of Tennessee in the penalty of Twelve Hundred and Fifty Dollars. Witness our hands, this 20 day of April , 1807. The Condition of this Obligation is Such, That, whereas the above-bound, Michael Straisner address Roane County, has obtained from the Clerk of the County Court of Roane County, Tennessee to marry Elizabeth Brasher address Roane County: Now, if there is no lawful cause to obstruct the marriagee for which said license is obtained, this obligation shall be void; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. (William) Micheal Stracener, born 1839 in Saint Clair County, Alabama, who was first married to Sarah S. Burkett (date unknown) and then to Sarah C. Quattlebaum who was a housewife and born in Ala., married second time on October 6, 1867 in White County, Arkansas with whom he had many children. Was a farmer with a farm worth $80.00 and personal worth of $200.00 in 1870. 1. William B. Stracener (Jr.), born 1869, died at a young age. 2. George W. Stracener, born 1870, married Emma L. Moss. 3. John L. G. Stracener, born 1872. married Cela Moss. 4. Jasper Newton Stracener, born 1878, married Lizzie Luther. 5. James Monroe Stracener, born 1876, married Alice Mahaly__. 6. Barbry L. Stracener, born 1874. 7. Phillip Stracener, married Iva Barnett (b. 1888 in AR, d. 1929). NOTE: All born in White County. Children: 1. Cordia Stracener, b. 3/8/1906, m. Clifton Strayhorn 2. Married Amos Cato (see heading, "Amos Cato" with children listed). 4. William Lewis Stracener, born 1843 in Saint Clair, Alabama, married Lucinda Quattlebaum (Aunt "Cindy" - She died of cancer with part of her face eaten away. She was the daughter of William Quattlebaum. Their children are: (Make sure these are right kids!) 1. Catherine Stracener who married ___ Norton. 2. Minnie Stracener who married John Talkington. 3. Cato of Alabama-born 1844 (possibly Amos' brother) January 1, 1865 (or Dec.24, 1864 by John S. Mitchell)in White County, Arkansas. He was18 at the time and she was 20. Book "B", page 104 No.771 Has their marriage license. (See attached copy) Their children are: (Marriage could be Dec. 24,1864 by John S. Mitchell.) Note: I have 2 listings for their children. Died:-- ## Deed from Micheal & Elizabeth to Wm: The State of Alabama} St. Clair County pg 831 Know all men by these presents that we, Michael Strasner and wife, Elizabeth Strasner for and in consideration of the natural love and affection we have for our son, William Strasner, we give unto the said William Strasner the (west half of the south west quarter section thirty-four Township Seventeen Range three East) with every part and parcel thereof which title we warrent and defend the right unto the said William Strasner his heirs assigns to be free from us, our heirs, assigns and all claims under the Government of the United States either in law or in equity given under our hands and seals this the 18th day of January, 1843. There is a deed from Saint Clair county, Alabama showing where William Stracener and Sarah Ann Stracener sold their land on February 8, 1851 to a William Thweatt? for $480.00. It was a certain tract of land being the northwest half of the northwest quarter of section 13 and also the east half of the southwest quarter of section 12 and also the the northwest quarter of the southeast quarter of section 13, all in Township 18, Range 2 East containing 200 acres, along with all improvements on said land. Sarah used an "X" to mark her signature and William's signature was written by the person who wrote out the deed but I didn't see his mark. There is also a deed of conveyance from Micheal Stracener and Elizabeth Stracener (his parents) giving him the west half of the southwest quarter of Section 34, Township 17, Range 3 East, every part and parcel thereof on January 18, 1843. On this one, both William and Sarah used an "X" to sign their names. There is also a County Clerk's page which shows William Stracener marrying Sarah Ann Kelly on October 17, 1836. I think the marriage was performed by T. Frued. (It's hard to read) MARY ELIZABETH STRACENER ********This line has apparently been researched by someone in LDS-NEED THEIR FULL RECORDS! SEE LDS SHEETS!****************** Lib. Call # 1059331- She was put into an insane asylem after her husband, Amos Cato died. Had many brothers and sisters; William Micheal, William Louis(Louis- nickname), John L. C., Jasper, James, George, Barbry, Martha, Sarah Ann Francis Stracener who married Thomas E. Cato Jan. 1,1865), J. Newton, Constantine Columbus and Joan. Linda Jane says she has a picture of her and she looks like an Indian. Her father was William Stracener and he was married to Sarah Ann Kelly and they had lots of children. William's father was Micheal Stracener (a will was found here) who was married to Elizabeth Brashers. Micheal's father was Henry Stracener - wife's name unknown. Born: 1839 or 1845 according to family bible or 1851according to some records. She was born in Alabama. Married: January 12, 1868 to Amos Cato in White County, Arkansas. Married by Robert Quarry. A copy of this can be found in the White County book, page 197, #1170. She was 29 and he was 39 at the time of their marriage. Children: (See Amos Cato) Died: May 17?, 1910 Buried Quattlebaum Cemetary, Gravel Hill, Ark. ## Copy of Marriage License of Amos Cato to Mary Stracener: Amos Cato Mary E. Stracener State of Arkansas County of White I, Robert Quarry, an acting and duly commissioned Justice of the Peace, in and for the County of White, in the State of Arkansas, I did duly join in marriage Amos Cato of White County, State of Arkansas, 39 years and Mary E. Stracener of the County of White, State of Arkansas, aged 29 years. I do declare them to be husband and wife. Given under my hand this 12th day of January, 1868 R. Quary, J.P. A true copy of this ordinance filed in my office for record Jan. 18, 1868. James Bradley, Clerk Recorded in Book "B", Page 197 No. 1170 ELIZABETH BRASHEAR (STRACENER) *** The name Stracener is of German origin and the name Brashear is of French origin. Census, taxes, marriage records, documented records on the Brashears. Census vary on age and spelling of names. Her father's name was Isaac Brashear, mother's name not yet known. Her family is well documented but I haven't checked it out yet. Born: 1787 in Guilford County, North Carolina. Married: Micheal Stracener on April 20, 1807 in Roane County, Tennessee. Children: (See Micheal Stracener) Died: In 1867 in Saint Clair county, Alabama and is buried there.
