Dudley J. HAMBLIN History of Arizona, page 505 The roster of county officials of Apache County contains no name more worthy of respect that Dudley J. Hamblin, the County Treasurer. He is a native of Apache County, having been born at Springerville on the 5th of May 1880 and is a son of Jacob and Sarah P. (Leavitt) Hamblin, the former of whom died on August 20, 1886. He was an extensive cattle man and later was engaged in mercantile affairs. He was an early settler of this state and was a man of much force of character, having been successful in the early days in making peace with the Indians. Dudley J. Hamblin received his early education in the district school, after which he attended Apache Academy at Thatcher, Gila County, from which he was graduated in 1900. He then devoted his attention to farming and stock raising, which he has carried on to the present time. In 1928 he was elected treasurer of Apache County and is the present incumbent of that position. On October 3, 1906 he married Mae Butler of St. Johns and they have eight children: Ina Mae, who is training for a nurse; Clara, attending University in Provo, Utah, Amasa L.and Kathleen, who are in high school; J. Dudley who is in grade schools, Harriet and Eldon B.
