The discoveries of the week are two postal receipts signed by John P. Clum, early postmaster and the first mayor of the city after incorporation. One is a receipt for a registered parcel made out to Frank B. Austin on January 7, 1882. The parcel was addressed to the Misses Willman Peck & Co. San Francisco. The second is Mr. Austin's receipt for postoffice box rent for the first quarter of 1882 which was two dollars. These papers were found by Mrs. Margaret Cummings in the building on Fremont street formerly owned by Mr. Austin. They are now in the possession of the present postmistress, Mrs. Edith Macia.
