GEORGE A. GIBSON Arizona Republican Newspaper December 3, 1897 The mysterious disappearance of George A. Gibson on Friday last from Fort Huachuca and the fact that he has not been heard of since has caused considerable anxiety among his friends. George was known as "Whispering George" and has been carrying mail for Simon Gallen between Huachuca siding and the military post. On Friday he delivered the mail as usual to Postmaster Wardwell. He was seen about the post until evening and then suddenly dropped out of sight. Inquiry and search were made without avail, nothing has been heard of him since. It was reported that was seen the next morning at the Larrieu Ranch on the river but he did not tarry there and nothing in his demeanor excited any suspicion.
