ROBERT GOLD Arizona Republican Newspaper July 3, 1902 Coroner C.S. Clark returned this morning from Gleeson where he went to hold an inquest on the remains of Robert Gold, the miner who met an accidental death at the Copper Belle on Sunday by falling from the bucket to the bottom, several hundred feet, sustaining injuries from which he never recovered consciousness. The verdict of the jury was to the effect that death was due to an accident and no blame was attached to the company or any of its employees. The deceased was about 25 years old and was a universal favorite among the miners. His death was caused by his stepping off into the shaft hole of the mine on the 100 level and falling to the 300 level crushing his skull. He lived about three hours.
