The sad news was carried to Bsibee and the heartbroken mother of Miss hughes immediately started to the ranch to bring the body to Bisbee for burial. More particulars of the sad affair will be known for the next issue. July 1, 1897 The funeral of Ella Green and Kate Cochoran, who were drowned in the river near Green's Ranch friday will take place this afternoon at 1 pm from the parlors of the Bessemer Hotel. Just how the young girls came to lose their lives is as yet a mystery. They were wondering along the river during the day and were seen just above the place where found quite late in the afternoon. It is supposed however, that Ella Green got into the water, which is much deeper than it appears to be, and that her companion was also drawn, in a vain endeavor to rescue her. The occurrence is one of those sad and seemingly unavoidable accidents which befall from time to time and the afflicted parents have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
