Born November 27, 1919 in Douglas, Cochise County, Arizona. Married Della Ella Lee in 1941 of Phoenix, Arizona. Preceded in death by his loving wife Della in 1978; his mother Maria Rieutord Hamilton-Hall in 1974; his father Luis Kinnard Hamilton in 1945; his brother Robert Hamilton in 1988; and his granddaughter Dorothy (Skinna) Durgan in 1995. Survived by his sister, Mary Louisa Madok of Escondido, California. His four children, Mary Ellen (Byron) Skinna of Klawock, Alaska, Betty Lee (Jim) Marker of Shoreline, Washington, Dorothy Ann (Bob) Reid of Juneau, Alaska, and Robert Louis (Rebecca) Hamilton-Hall of Sitka, Alaska. His five grandchildren: Marjorie, Vaughn, James, Robert and Teresa. His six great-grandchildren: Barry, Sonja, Anthony, Natalie, Courtney and William. And his many, many friends who loved and will miss him dearly. Luis was a U.S. Army Signal Corps (ACS) Master Sergeant, Ret. He entered the Army 1941 at Fort Lawton, Washington and was stationed in Adak, Kotzebue, Nome, Flat, Anchorage, Juneau and Craig, Alaska. He retired in 1962 at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was a self-taught fisherman, hunter, big-game guide, photographer and gourmet chef. He loved the outdoors, jazz, culinary delights, playing cards, travelling and re-mastering the art of black & white portraits. While visiting Las Vegas in 1994, he suffered a stoke, thereafter he moved into the Pioneer's Home in 1995. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family. He loved life completely and lived it intensely. A memorial service will be held at the Ketchikan Pioneer's Home on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at 10:30am. Another memorial service will be scheduled in Craig at a later date to be announced. The family suggests memorials to the charity of your choice.
