FRANK JONES GEORGE MOULWING November 3, 1905 Arizona Republican Newspaper Mrs. Wolf of the Upper Tombstone Canyon, says the Bisbee Review, returned yesterday from Douglas where she went on Saturday to investigate a rumor of the hanging of her son, Frank Jones and George Moulwing somewhere in the Guadalupe Canyon country in Mexico below the San Bernardino Ranch. The two men left Bisbee about three weeks ago for a hunting trip in Mexico. Nothing has since been heard from them. Saturday morning an unknown man brought word to Mrs. Wolf that her son's body and that of his companion had been found hanging from a tree in Guadalupe Canyon. At Douglas she was unable to learn anything. A message to San Bernardino Ranch brought answer that nothing was known there. Mrs. Wolf then employed a man familiar with the canyon country to go there and make search for her son, following which she returned to this city to await developments. The Guadalupe Hanging November 9, 1905 Several days ago the Republican printed a story of the reported execution of two young men by hanging somewhere in the Guadalupe Canyon below the San Bernardino Ranch in Santa Cruz County. One of the young men supposed to have met his death was Frank Jones, who made his home in this city several years ago. His father, J.T. Jones is a wagon maker and at present has his shop in the same building with Jack Kersting, the blacksmith. Yesterday Mr. Jones received a letter from his daughter, Mrs. M.E. Hodges, who is now in Bisbee but the missive threw little light on the affair. She wrote that young Jones in company with a friend, had left for a month's hunt in Mexico and that the month would not be up until the 15th of November. After he had been out about a week, a man coming across the border by way of the Canyon Guadalupe brought the news that the two men were hanged there several days before. He gave no particulars. A messenger was at once dispatched to the scene of the reported tragedy and he has now returned with the report that he could find no trace of the boys or of any hanging. On this information the police at Bisbee are inclined to doubt the truth of the first report. Mr. Jones several days ago offered a reward for the arrest of the murderers. Living or Dead November 18, 1905 J.T. Jones, the father of the young man who was reported to have been hanged by desperadoes in the Guadalupe Canyon in Mexico, received a letter from his daughter in Bisbee. From the letter it is now learned that his son was not h anged but may possibly have been one of a party of six that were shot by a mob. Three of the party were killed outright and three very dangerously. One of the six men was by name Frank Jones, the same as that of the young man who is missing and it is for that reason that his father is so uneasy. The information contained in the letter was obtained from the man who first started the report of the story. If it should develop that young Jones was one of the men killed, the father will at once take action to locate the murderer. If no trouble has befallen him the father will hear in a few days. No motive in the letter received is given for the action of the mob in taking the lives of the Americans. All that is stated is that the bodies of the three men killed were identified and turned over to the parties who claimed them. The three injured men were taken to a hospital. Whether Frank Jones is alive or not, his absence from Bisbee has caused his parents and family no end of worry. If he did not reach Bisbee on the 15th of the month, the Arizona Rangers will be asked to locate the Frank Jones who was shot and ascertain if he is the son of J.T. Jones of this city.
