For extraordinary heroism in action near Varennes, France, September 26, 1918. With two other soldiers Pvt. Comina voluntarily went forward under heavy artillery and machine-gun fire and silenced an enemy machine-gun nest, killing 4 of the crew and bringing back 11 prisoners.
