Captain John C. Bourke November 19, 1892 Arizona Silver Belt A San Antonio, Texas dispatch of Nov. 16 says Camptain John C. Bourke was shot and killed by Marshall Paul Fricke, while testifying during the hearing of a case wherein certain Mexicans were charged with violating the neutrality laws. The information contained in the dispatch is too meagre to base an opinoin as to the provocaton given by Bourke which so enraged the Marshal that he fired the fatal shot. Fricke is in jail. Bourke was an officer of the 3rd U.S. Cavalry, and was well known in Arizona. At the time of his death his company post for Fort Sam Houston.
