Judge A.H. Hackney Arizona Silver Belt December 3, 1899 Judge A.H. Hackney, formerly editor of the Silver Belt, died this week at the advanced age of 84 years. He was born in Mercer Co. Pa in 1815. His first migration was to St. Louis, where he resided twenty five years and from there came to New Mexico and Arizona in 1857. Judge Hackney always kept in advance of the railroads and was one of those strong and vigorous natures found only where nature is and has been the teacher. He was a strong and forcible writer, with clear cut convictions and the courage to express them. Williams News Judge Hackney, the oldest newspaper man in the southwest has gone to his rest "across the long divde." Many years had he wielded a clean quill in New Mexico and Arizona.
