TOM WINDHAM August 24, 1905 Az Silver Belt A sudden and startling death occurred at the Coronado Station Saturday morning last as the stage was pulling out for Solomonville. There were four passengers in the coach, including Mesdames Holt and Ringgold, who were on their way to Solomonville. When the passengers had been seated, the driver, Tom Windham climbed onto the coach and touched the horses with a whip when they started off. Just as the start was made the driver plunged headlong from his seat to the ground and when picked up was breathing his last. The body was cared for and a telephone message sent to Clifton for the coroner. Judge Neff secured an engine and caboose to take himself and the coroner's jury to the scene. After viewing the remains the jury returned a verdict to the effect that the deceased came to his death by a sudden attack of heart disease. Tom Windham had resided in the Duncan country many years and was well known to all the old time citizens of that section. The remains were taken to Duncan for burial.
