PEDRO GUITERAS June 12, 1896 Morenci. The quiet of our little mountain town was broken by a succession of four shots on Sunday about 6 o'clock. Immeidately after a Mexican was seen running up the side hill. He as instantly followed by Officers Rice, Davis and Jobson but having a considerable head start, he managed to get beyond the mountains and was lost to his pursurers. A large crowd gathered at the house of Pedro Guiteras where the shooting had occurred and Pedro was found lying in the corner of the room across a trunk with four bullet holes in his body, one in the face, one of the neck and two in the back, any one of which would have proven fatal. The cause of the trouble was a woman, as usual. Pedro saw fit to administer corporal punishment on his wife. His friend interfered, a row was the issue, with the results above mentioned.
