Leroy S. Colwell Arizona, The Youngest State, 1913, pg 461 Since ten years of age Leroy S. Colwell has spent his life in the state of Arizona and is therefore numbered among its pioneers. For many years he has been successful in mining and in 1912 was elected as recorder of Yavapai County. He was born in Illinois in 1863 and began his education in the public schools of Peoria. In 1873 he came to Arizona with his parents, Charles H. and Hester Colwell. The father was employed with S.C. Miller but later returned to Illinois, where he still makes his home. Leroy S. Colwell married Miss Louise C. Mayer, August 21, 1894. She is from Chicago.
