KIMBELL was born in San Francisco, Cal., on the 9th of July, 1859, to the union of Albert G. and Sarah C. (Cleaves) Kimbell, both natives of Tennessee. He was educated in the schools of Oakland and Sacramento, and in the year 1878 he began studying assaying. Two years later he left California and located at Tucson, where he fitted himself out for the mountains and prospecting. He was thus occupied in Cochise County until 1885, when he went to New Mexico, and while there was all the time engaged in mining. From there he went to Chihuahua, Mexico, in 1892, remained in the mines there for a short time, and then returned to New Mexico. A few months later he came to Phoenix, Arizona, and here he has made his home since, engaged as an assayer and in mining. He operates with Mr. McFall in other mines, notably in Yavapai County, and is a wide-awake man of affairs. He is a member of Deming Lodge, No. 20, K. of P.
