Pruitt, corporal, 78th Company, 6th Regiment, United States Marine Corps, 2d Division. For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action with the enemy at Blanc Mont Ridge, France, October 3, 1918. Corpl. Pruitt single-handed attacked two machine guns, capturing them and killing two of the enemy. He then captured 40 prisoners in a dugout near by. This gallant soldier was killed soon afterwards by shell fire while he was sniping at the enemy."Emergency address: Mrs. Belle Pruitt, mother, It. F. D. No. 3, Phoenix, Ariz.
