Brian Eugene James, son of Mr. and Mrs. P.M. James, 4127 North Seventh Street, who previously was reported missing in action over France Feb. 4, is listed as killed in action, it was revealed in a message from the Red Cross. A widely known Phoenician, Lieutenant James was a graduate of Brophy College, Phoenix Union High School and Arizona State Teachers College of Tempe. He was a member of Tau Gamma Alpha, a Catholic fraternity, and the Knights of Columbus. Enlisting in the army air corps in July, 1942, James was called into service in February, 1943, and was sent overseas last November. He had been a bombardier on a Flying Fortress with the Eighth Air Force, and had participated in 13 missions, for which he was awarded the Air Medal. Besides his parents, he leaves a sister, Gertrude James, Phoenix; and two brothers, P.M. James, Jr., an air cadet at a Texas air base, and William H. James, who is associated with the U.S. Bureau of Internal Revenue here. Additional Comments: He went by "Gene."
