Mr. Otero had not been in excellent health during the last two or three years but he could not be said to be in ill health. Early last summer he went with Mrs. Otero to the coast to remain until fall, as he had done every summer for several years. Mr. Otero was seventy years of age; he was a native of Mexico, but he had lived so long in this part of the country that he became a citizen under the Gadsden treaty. He was a cousin of Governor Otero of New Mexico. He leaves a family consisting of a wife and seven children, all of whom are here except one daughter, who resides in Los Angeles. Jesus was a good and quiet citizen, and in the early days of Phoenix took a deep interest in public affairs.
